MotaWord combines the efforts of talented human translators through the use of a cloud-based translation platform. This ability to simultaneously utilize multiple translators makes MotaWord exceptionally fast and highly accurate.

I have some experience with translation and can - with a certain authority - ascertain that the most dangerous sentence in any language is “We’ve always done it this way.”

When the time comes to make even the slightest shift from conventional thought, it is impossible to not feel agitated. In my mind, fear of change is tied directly to a fear of that which we do not understand.

Once you know how to do something really well and can predict the outcome of your changes, things become less scary.

In fact, you see this in all successful business endeavors.

The most useful innovations always come from people who know the choices they have in the market and are either not happy or utterly frustrated with their options. As they have the insight into what is wrong, they are not afraid to think and do differently.

It is hard not to agree with this statement by Barry Schwartz:

...a wise person is made, not born. Wisdom depends on experience, and not just any experience. You need the time to get to know the people that you’re serving.

You need permission to be allowed to improvise, try new things, occasionally to fail and to learn from your failures. And you need to be mentored by wise teachers.

At MotaWord, we set out to change many things in the way translation work is served to clients and fulfilled by hardworking translators.

We no longer want to work in an industry that is dependent on e-mail exchanges, MS Word documents being carted back and forth with no accountability, translators working without being able to freely consult with their colleagues, having to submit invoices for payments when their work is not in question and agencies that over-promise and under-deliver.

We are convinced that when it comes to translation, "doing it the way it has always been done" is archaic and wrong in the 21st century.

Change does not come easy, it is painful, the resistance - especially by those who give in to the fear; rather than understanding the premise of the change can manifest itself through animosity.

MotaWord is not a platform created by robots; there are people - skilled translators and developers working together. We in fact have written an article about this that we published last September.

We currently are pushing over 18,000 translators registered and vetted on our platform. We are also growing at a pace of around 50 new translators registering with us every day.

I wanted to reach out to anyone of them reading this, and let them know that they are welcome to check MotaWord out, read about us, and share any constructive criticism they may have. You will see that we are very open to ideas. Let’s see if we can make a difference together.
